After becoming certified, insurance agents are required to complete a state-regulated number of continuing education credits for every certification period in order to prevent their licenses from expiring.

Insurance Continuing Education Credits

Licensed insurance agents are required to complete a certain amount of insurance continuing education credits in order to retain their certification. Each state outlines how many continuing education credit hours agents must accumulate every certification period. States also designate which courses are approved for credit, as well as how many credits must be taken from courses within various categories.
